Fundación Ceiba names Mr. Teodoro Rivera it's representative in Puerto Rico
Marlborough, MA, February 7th, 2023: The Fundación Ceiba today announced the appointment of Mr. Teodoro Rivera to oversee it's recruitment efforts in Puerto Rico. Mr. Rivera, a long-term educator in the island public school system, has been tasked with the sourcing of worthy candidates to participate in the Fundación Ceiba Scholarship program. The program design to help underprivileged students interested in the field of Computer Science, Computer Engineering, and Entrepreneurship provides a five-(5) year scholarship for students to attend the University of Puerto Rico - Mayaguez Campus
The scholarship program named, “Giving Back: Creating a community of Entrepreneurs and Scholars”, will cover all expenses associated with academic studies (i.e., tuition fees, books and materials, etc.) and all life expenses (e.g., food and board). The scholarship will cover said costs for a period of 5 years or less, from entry to graduation. Exceptionally in the 2023-2024 academic year, the scholarship will be awarded to two students – an incoming freshman, and a student who is already enrolled in an engineering undergraduate program at RUM. The scholarship will be awarded based on the following selection criteria:

The scholarship will be awarded based on the following selection criteria:1. The financial need of the student
2. The academic excellence of the student and their potential for succeeding academically in the field of engineering
3. The interest and potential that the student has for entrepreneurship and/or social entrepreneurship
4. The social commitment of the student to “give back” to Puerto Rico’s more disadvantaged communities and people after the completion of their studies
Thus, the ideal candidate for this scholarship will be a socio-economically disadvantaged, academically talented student who demonstrates a deep social commitment and a strong interest in engineering, scientific scholarship, and entrepreneurship
